As Vice President of FP&A at SMTC, Mr. Liu brings more than 13 years of finance leadership experience across the industrial, automotive, energy, and manufacturing sectors. He has deep expertise in financial planning and analysis, performance management, commercial finance, and cash flow improvement, with a track record of supporting large, complex organizations through periods of growth and transformation.
Prior to joining SMTC, Mr. Liu served as Director of FP&A at Tenneco, an Apollo Global Management portfolio company, where he led financial planning and performance management across the Americas for the company’s Powertrain and Clean Air businesses, representing approximately $3 billion in revenue and more than 30 manufacturing facilities. During his tenure at Tenneco, he partnered closely with business and operational leadership on forecasting, profitability improvement, cost reduction, working capital, and strategic initiatives.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Liu held finance leadership roles at GE across Power Conversion, Aviation, Steam Power, and Corporate Audit, with responsibilities spanning regional FP&A, long-term service agreements, project finance, and operational controllership. He began his career with Alstom in finance and controlling roles across China, Switzerland, and the United States.
Mr. Liu holds a master’s degree from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and has built his career at the intersection of finance, operations, and industrial execution.
